NYU Researchers United Postdocs-UAW is an organization by, of, and for NYU Postdocs who are unionizing in order to improve our experience at NYU. Our work not only benefits the University, but also has positive impacts worldwide through groundbreaking medical research. We work in many different fields and have varied experiences, but our dedication to research unites us all.
We have already seen the power of organized researchers at major research institutions to dramatically improve their working conditions through unionization with United Auto Workers, including right here in NYC. Graduate student teaching assistants at NYU, UAW Local 2110, were the first in the nation at a private university to unionize, and postdocs at Columbia University were the first to unionize at a private institution as well, UAW Local 4100, followed by postdocs at Mount Sinai. By building on their experience we can continue to raise standards for researcher working conditions across the city.
Hear from some colleagues about why they support forming a union for postdocs at NYU.
