Earlier this month, NYU postdocs voted by an overwhelming majority to form our union, with over 97% voting in favor. As we prepare to bargain our first union contract with the University, please take a moment to fill out our NYURUP-UAW bargaining survey today.
In order to help win the strongest and most representative contract for all postdocs, it is critical that as many of us as possible fill out the survey. Feedback in the bargaining survey will help guide us in developing initial bargaining goals and during our negotiations. The more of us who participate, the more power we will have as we begin our first contract campaign, and the stronger message we send to NYU.
After we as postdocs elect a bargaining committee, it will use this survey to help develop initial bargaining priorities. Those initial bargaining priorities will be put to another vote for postdocs to ratify those goals, so the bargaining committee can begin negotiating with the administration with broad input and participation. We will share information about the process for nominating and electing bargaining committee members in the near future.
