This week, we have the historic opportunity to vote ‘yes’ and join a growing movement of over 3,000 NYC postdocs who have won a bigger voice at their workplace through collective bargaining. Watch UAW postdocs from across NYC encourage us to vote ‘yes’ below.
By voting ‘yes’ September 30th and October 1st, we can similarly build a bigger collective voice to make NYU more equitable and inclusive. Like our unionized colleagues across the city, we could bargain for improvements like salaries that keep pace with peer institutions and the cost of living in New York City, more stable and predictable family-friendly benefits, greater support for international workers, recourse for unfair terminations, and stronger protections against discrimination and sexual harassment at work.
Researchers forming unions across NYC and the country have helped improve the postdoc experience by winning improvements to salaries, benefits and workplace rights. Read more what colleagues at Columbia University, Mount Sinai University, Weill Cornell Medicine, and others have won through collective bargaining.
